Dry sticks help to protect the contents of your container (especially textiles and electrical items) from dampness and typically last 6-12 weeks depending on conditions.

The sticks store up to 2 liters of water in a moisture protected membrane (which prevents the moisture re-entering the container).

Designed with a hook to hang them from the standard container roof mounted lashing points the dry sticks fit snuggly between the wall corrugations.

Please note that typically we recommend using 2 x dry sticks per 10ft length but this will depend on what you are storing and how often you enter the container. We usually recommend that you tape up the standard container vents to reduce the ingress of further moisture from outside. You will need to check dry sticks on a regular basis.

How Many Dry Sticks Do You Need?

  • Allow roughly 2 sticks per 10ft of container length as a starting point
  • Increase the count for textiles, paper, electronics or anything stored long term
  • Reduce it where the container is opened often and aired regularly

Getting the Best Result

Condensation in a steel container is driven by warm, damp air inside meeting a cold shell overnight, so limiting how much damp air gets in matters as much as absorbing what is already there. Taping over the standard container vents cuts that ingress, and standing goods on pallets or battens stops moisture wicking up off the floor. Check the sticks on a regular schedule and replace them once the membrane is full – a spent stick absorbs nothing.

Damp control is normally part of a wider fit-out: heavy duty container racking lifts stock clear of the floor, and a magnetic PIR light makes checking the sticks practical in an unlit container.
