Take the sides and roof off a container and what remains is a flat rack: a reinforced deck on ISO corner castings, with either fixed end walls or ends that fold down flat when the rack is empty. Everything that makes a closed box useful — weather protection, security, stackable enclosed volume — is traded away for one capability. A flat rack will carry a load that is wider, taller or heavier than anything you could shut a door on.

What ends up on a deck

Tracked plant and wheeled machinery, vehicle chassis, transformers, pressure vessels, tanks, boats, structural steelwork, prefabricated building sections, and timber, pipe or reel goods that overhang the standard 2.44m (8ft) width. The other reason people come here is point loading: a compact but very heavy item that would punch through the timber floor of a dry van sits comfortably on a deck designed for concentrated weight.

Deck length is really the only choice, and both lengths are stocked. At 20ft there is a used flat rack for working yard duty, and a one-trip rack that still looks new for loads that will be photographed, shipped onward or sold with the rack still under them. At 40ft, the used 40ft deck doubles the length, and a combined new-and-used 40ft listing lets you weigh condition directly against budget. Buyers split fairly evenly between shipping work and keeping a rack on site as a permanent load-out platform or equipment stand.

Warranty cover follows the grade rather than the product type, so read the condition guide before choosing between one-trip and used — a one-trip rack has unworn lashing points and clean paint, a used deck has neither and is priced accordingly. Racks travel flat and are lifted on and off by machine at both ends, so HIAB or crane offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Delivery is free UK-wide including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, usually 7–10 days as an estimate, and no VAT is added at checkout.
