High Cube Containers for Sale
Add a foot to the roof and the box changes job. A high cube stands 2.9m (9ft 6in) to the top of its corner castings rather than the standard 2.6m (8ft 6in), and the door aperture rises with it. That single foot is what allows pallets to stack two deep, keeps a usable finished ceiling after a conversion has lost height to subfloor and lining, and lets tall plant roll in upright instead of being laid on its side. Everything else — footprint, corner castings, handling — behaves exactly like the standard unit it sits alongside.
Picking a length
Most of this category is the 40ft high cube, the volume sweet spot and the shell nearly every large conversion starts from; the one-trip version is the reference unit. Where the yard is tight, a 20ft high cube gives identical headroom on half the footprint, and the Grade A used 20ft is the economical way into it. The long domestic-spec boxes — 45ft, and the 53ft steel high cube — are for awkwardly long items, or for pulling scattered stock under one roof. They also need a far longer and straighter approach than most yards allow for.
Grades and variants stocked
One-trip — a single loaded voyage, near-new paint, covered for 12 months against structural defects and water ingress.
Used — wind and watertight or cargo-worthy, marked from service, covered for 3 months.
Refurbished — reworked shells, including a 40ft seven-bay multi-store self-storage build.
Variants — full side-opening high cubes, a fixed-glazing observation unit, and insulated and refrigerated 40ft shells listed alongside the reefer containers.
Height is a delivery constraint before it is a storage benefit. On the lorry a high cube rides higher than a standard box, so gateways, tree cover, overhead cables and low bridges on the final mile matter more than the space in the yard does. Delivery is free UK-wide including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, with 7–10 days a fair estimate depending on where you are. No VAT is added at checkout, so the listed figure is what you pay. Read the condition guide before deciding how much paintwork you are prepared to live with.
