Description
A 40ft high cube reefer whose refrigeration system is no longer operational, sold honestly as what it now is: a very well insulated, structurally sound container at a fraction of the cost of a working machine. The logic is simple. On a refrigerated container the insulation and the sealed shell outlast the machinery by many years, so when the plant reaches the end of its economic life what remains is a 9 ft 6 in box with a thermal envelope no ordinary container can match. If you never needed the compressor, you should not be paying for one.

Be clear about the refrigeration
The machinery on this unit does not work and is not sold as working. There is no set point, no cooling and no way to hold a temperature below ambient. What the insulation does is slow the rate at which the inside drifts with the weather, which flattens out daily swings and keeps the box far more stable than a standard steel container in summer sun or a hard frost. That is genuinely useful for a great many stored goods — and it is not refrigeration. If your product has to be brought down to a temperature and held there, this is the wrong unit and you need a working machine.

The simplest delivery in the reefer range
Delivery is free throughout the UK, taking in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable because no VAT is added at checkout. This is the easiest cold-storage-derived unit to receive precisely because there is nothing to commission: no three-phase supply to arrange, no reefer plug to terminate, no engineer visit before you can use it. It arrives, it is placed, it is in service. What it does still need is the access any 40ft demands — a straight approach for an articulated tilt-bed, room to reverse, level load-bearing ground, and overhead clearance checked against the 2.90 metre profile. If the position calls for a crane or HIAB offload, that is agreed in writing before delivery. As a used unit supplied wind and watertight it is covered for three months against water ingress and door operation; that cover relates to the shell, not to the refrigeration, which is sold non-working. Separately you keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a distinct 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
