Description

A 40ft high cube reefer with non-operational refrigeration machinery and, crucially, a shell that is assessed and supplied wind and watertight. That distinction is the whole reason to choose this over a cheaper unlabelled non-working reefer. A container can be structurally sound and still let weather in around a perished gasket or a corroded panel seam, and if you are storing tools, feed, documents or anything that must stay dry, a graded wind and watertight assessment is what you are actually buying. The insulation comes as a bonus rather than the headline.

Two things the insulation still does

Even with the plant dead, a reefer’s insulated envelope earns its keep in two ways people rarely plan for. The first is temperature buffering: the inside tracks the daily swing far more slowly than a bare steel box, which reduces the condensation that rusts tools and spoils packaging. The second is acoustic. A reefer shell is markedly quieter than a standard container, which matters if it is being used as a workshop, a plant enclosure or anything sited near a boundary or a dwelling. Neither is refrigeration and neither is a substitute for it.

Who buys these

Farms, workshops and industrial yards using them as insulated dry stores. Builders and fabricators taking them as the shell for offices, cold rooms and container homes, where having the insulation already in place removes the single most expensive and time-consuming stage of the conversion. Equipment and machinery storage where condensation, not theft, is the real enemy.

Delivery, placement and cover

Delivery is free across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is what you pay, because no VAT is added at checkout. With no machinery to commission, the only planning this unit needs is physical: an articulated tilt-bed wants a straight approach and room to reverse, the ground where it lands must be level and load bearing, and the 2.90 metre high cube profile needs checking against gateways, cables and overhanging trees on the route in. Where a crane or HIAB offload suits the position better, that is agreed in writing before delivery. Set it level rather than approximately level, because the door gaskets that earn it the wind and watertight grade will only seat correctly if the frame is not twisted. Supplied wind and watertight, it carries three months’ cover on exactly that basis: water ingress and door operation. The refrigeration is sold non-working and is not covered. You separately keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and 30 days to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
