Reefer Container

A reefer container is an insulated shipping container with an integrated refrigeration unit built into one end wall. Plug it into the right power supply and it becomes a walk-in cooler or freezer that can be trucked to wherever the product is. BluePort Container lists 10ft, 20ft, 30ft and 40ft refrigerated containers from Carrier, Thermo King and Daikin, in working, refurbished and non-operating condition.
What to check before choosing a refrigerated unit

Temperature range — standard chilled and frozen duty versus deep-freeze blast units running well below zero
Power supply — reefers need three-phase power; confirm voltage and amperage at the placement point
Machinery condition — a working unit holds setpoint; a non-operating reefer is sold as an insulated shell only
Year of manufacture — newer machinery generally means better efficiency and easier parts availability
Height — most 40ft reefers are high cube, which affects overhead clearance on delivery

For a compact chilled or frozen store, the 20ft used reefer container is the usual starting point, and the 2021 Thermo King 20ft reefer carries much newer machinery. At full size, a working 40ft Carrier ThinLINE high cube reefer gives the largest cold volume we stock as a single unit. Where product has to be pulled down fast rather than simply held cold, see our 20ft blast freezer containers.
Not sure whether you need running machinery or just insulation? Our buyer’s guide walks through the trade-off before you commit.
A non-operating reefer is sold as an insulated container. The Condition Guide explains how we grade both the steel and the machinery.
