Container Accessories
Eleven small purchases, and between them they decide whether a container becomes organised storage or a floor-stacked pile with a lock on the door. Nothing here is structural and none of it needs a fabricator — these are the container accessories an owner fits themselves, usually in the first few weeks, once the shortcomings of an empty steel box become obvious.
Grouped by the problem each one solves
Security. A closed-shackle container padlock, shaped to sit down inside a lockbox so there is nothing for cutters to get a jaw around.
Shelving. Fastfit three-tier container racking in single-bay and two-bay widths, plus an adjustable heavy duty frame for loads whose height varies. A 2.39 m (7ft 10in) internal wall is wasted until something spans it.
Access. A ramp that bridges the step at the door sill so a pallet truck or barrow wheels straight in.
Light. A magnetic PIR lamp that clamps to the corrugation inside, and a solar floodlight where no mains supply reaches the standing area.
Moisture. Dry sticks, hung in a sealed box to take water out of the air before container rain drips onto stock.
Handling. Twist locks, four to a set, joining corner castings when you stack, a door stay to hold a cargo door open against wind, and a timber crate at 203 × 122 × 208 cm (80in × 48in × 82in) for palletised freight.
Two of these change day-to-day use more than the rest. The padlock closes the one weak point every thief already knows about, and two-bay three-tier racking turns volume you cannot reach into shelf you can. Buying the box at the same time? Start from shipping containers and add the hardware to the same order.
