Description

A solid timber shipping crate built for large, heavy or high-value items that need protecting in transit or in store: machinery, industrial and automotive parts, aerospace assemblies and sensitive electronics. It is a substantial piece of kit rather than a packing case — at 2083 mm tall it takes equipment that cannot be laid flat, and it is built with forklift clearance on more than one side so it can be handled at both ends with ordinary warehouse plant.

Crate or container?

One machine, a tooling package, a single high-value assembly: at this size a crate travels as ordinary palletised freight, which keeps cranes, chassis and container yards out of the job at both ends. That is the entire argument for choosing one. Reverse the brief — a load that sits for months instead of moving once — and steel wins, because it protects better and locks properly. Crates are for the journey; containers are for the storage.

Getting one to you

Delivery is free across the UK mainland, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown on this page is the total payable, with no VAT added at checkout. At 905 kg the crate needs a forklift or similar at your end to take it off the vehicle, so please make sure that is arranged before the delivery date. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a separate 30-day right to reject the goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if they arrive faulty.

If the load is being stored rather than shipped, a wind and watertight 20 ft used shipping container gives better long-term protection, and dry sticks control the damp once it is loaded.
