Description
A working 40ft high cube refrigerated container running a 2010 Carrier ThinLINE system, tested and confirmed operational. The ThinLINE name refers to a slimmer machinery pack, and on a 40ft that is a genuine specification advantage rather than marketing: a shallower unit gives back internal loading length in a container where every metre of floor is committed. Combined with the high cube height, it makes this one of the more space-efficient used reefers of its generation.
Dimensions and capacity
- External: 12.19 × 2.44 × 2.90 m (40 ft × 8 ft × 9 ft 6 in high cube)
- Interior volume: approximately 68 to 76 m³ (2,400 to 2,700 cu ft)
- Door opening: approximately 2.34 m wide × 2.58 m high (7 ft 8 in × 8 ft 6 in)
- High cube profile adds roughly 305 mm of internal height over a standard 40ft
Machinery and construction
- Refrigeration: Carrier ThinLINE, 2010 model, fully operational and tested
- Temperature range: approximately -29 to +21 °C (-20 °F to +70 °F)
- Power: the pack is rated 460V three-phase. UK three-phase is nominally 400V, so confirm the supply arrangement with us before ordering
- Controls: digital display for set point, monitoring and diagnostics
- Insulated stainless steel and aluminium walls over high-density polyurethane
- T-bar aluminium flooring for airflow and drainage
- Double rear doors on airtight gaskets
The value tier of the reefer market
A 2010 machine that has been tested and confirmed working occupies a particular place in the market: you get the cold chain performance of a commercial refrigeration unit without paying for a recent build. Carrier packs of this generation are well supported through normal commercial refrigeration channels in the UK, and the digital control panel means set point changes and fault diagnosis are readable rather than a specialist job. The trade-off is honest — the machine is fifteen years old and should be maintained on that basis — and for a great many operations it is the right trade.
What to have ready
- A three-phase supply, correctly rated and terminated, with the voltage arrangement confirmed in advance
- A level pad, so the T-bar floor drains properly and the airtight gaskets seat rather than bind
- Ventilation clearance at the machinery end for the condenser
- Overhead clearance on the approach for the 9 ft 6 in high cube profile
Delivery and cover
Delivery is free UK-wide, taking in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable, since no VAT is added at checkout. This is a full-length high cube and therefore an articulated tilt-bed delivery: a straight approach, room to reverse, and firm, level ground at the standing position. Settle the electrical supply question before the delivery date rather than after, because it is the one item on this unit that can leave you with a container you cannot run. Where the position needs a crane or HIAB offload, that is agreed in writing before delivery. Supplied wind and watertight, the shell carries three months’ cover against water ingress and door operation. Your statutory rights sit alongside that and are separate from one another: 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and 30 days to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Want a newer machine? Compare it with the one-trip 2023 Thermo King 40ft reefer. Staying with used stock, there is also the Maersk 40ft cold storage reefer, and the Carrier Primeline 40ft high cube. Every size we hold appears under refrigerated containers, and how used reefers are graded is set out in our condition guide.
