£4,395.00

Specified around a single number: 2.70 m of internal height, which is what lets sixteen 1,000 litre IBCs stand inside a 20ft footprint. A 5.82 m side opening means a forklift reaches any tote directly instead of working down the length from one end.

Description

What a high cube buys is a foot of internal height that a standard container does not have: 2.90 m externally where the standard is 2.59 m. On this particular unit, that height is essentially the whole specification. It is set up for IBC storage and takes sixteen 1,000 litre totes inside, which a standard-height 20ft box cannot do without stacking beyond a safe working height. Access is the other half of the design: as well as hinged double doors at one 8ft end, this unit opens along one full 20ft side, so IBCs are placed and retrieved directly rather than shuttled down the length.

Dimensions and weight

  • External: 6.06 × 2.44 × 2.90 m (19 ft 11 in × 8 ft 0 in × 9 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: 5.95 × 2.35 × 2.70 m (19 ft 6 in × 7 ft 9 in × 8 ft 10 in)
  • End door opening: 2.34 m wide × 2.59 m high (7 ft 8 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Side opening: 5.82 m (19 ft 1 in)
  • Weight: 3,380 kg (7,452 lb)
  • CSC plated: 30 tonnes gross

Build and fittings

  • Sized for sixteen 1,000 litre IBC totes
  • Hinged double doors at one 8ft end and along one full 20ft side
  • Cor-Ten weathering steel construction
  • Lockboxes fitted at the factory
  • A pair of forklift pockets to each side
  • 28 mm (1⅛ in) marine plywood floor
  • Four vents to limit condensation above stored liquids
  • One-trip condition: a single loaded voyage before sale

Why the extra height matters for IBCs

A filled 1,000 litre tote stands a little over a metre. In a standard 20ft container you can stand them on the floor and that is effectively that — double-stacking leaves almost no clearance for the forks above the top tote, so handling becomes a two-person shuffle. At 2.70 m internal you have the headroom to lift and place a second tier properly and still work around it. The 5.82 m side opening is the other half of the answer: you reach any position on the floor from outside rather than threading a forklift down a 6 m corridor.

What this unit is not

Be clear on this before you order: it provides height and access, not spill containment. There is no sump and no bund — the floor is marine plywood. If what you are storing is hazardous rather than simply bulky, you need a bunded store instead, and the requirements for containment volume, ventilation and signage vary with the substance and with your site’s own permits. Tell us what is going inside and we will confirm the right specification.

Delivery, siting and cover

UK delivery is free, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey included, and no VAT is added at checkout. A 20ft unit sites easily from a tilt-bed, but a side-opening container carrying liquids has one requirement that is easy to overlook: the floor must end up genuinely level, because a container that settles even slightly out of true will let a leaked tote drain toward the doors rather than staying put. Keep the opening flank clear so the side doors reach their stops. Crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. As one-trip stock this unit carries 12 months of cover against structural defects and water ingress, in addition to your statutory rights — 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a separate 30-day right to reject faulty goods.

Related units

If you need containment as well as access, the 20ft open side bunded store with open mesh floor is the unit to compare. Bulk material in place of tanks points to the 20ft top-loading bulk storage container, or to the 20ft ISO dry cargo bulk storage container. Same height for less outlay: the used 20ft high cube, Grade A. Browse all taller shells under high cube containers.
