Description
A 40ft × 8ft one-trip high cube container, built to ISO standard dimensions and used once to ship cargo into the UK. Made from corrosion-resistant Corten steel, it is close enough to new to be treated as new for practical purposes, while costing meaningfully less. The 9 ft 6 in profile is the reason most buyers pick it over a standard 40ft: an extra foot of internal clearance is often the whole reason a mini-digger, a compressor or a second tier of racking actually fits.

What one trip actually gets you
A single loaded voyage out of the factory is the entire history of one of these boxes. What follows from that history is a current CSC plate, paint nobody has had to touch up, door seals with no set in them, and a marine plywood floor that has never had anything dragged across it. Nothing in the UK market realistically sits closer to genuinely new, and the resale figure reflects it — worth weighing if the box is covering a gap rather than staying for good. One trip, cargo worthy and wind and watertight are set side by side in our guide to container grades.
Typical buyers
- Contractors after a lockable plant and tool store tall enough for a mini-digger
- Distributors putting on overflow warehousing without a planning-heavy build
- Fabricators and builders after a shell to convert into a workshop
- Farms and estates with feed, machinery and seasonal kit to get under cover
Delivery, siting and cover
Delivery is free anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout — the price shown is the total payable. Of all the sizes we sell this is the one where site access decides whether the day goes well: a tilt-bed needs a straight run and roughly 18 m of firm, level ground, and the welded tie-down points and forklift pockets only help once the unit is already down. Tell us about narrow gateways, tight turns or low cables before you order. If a crane or HIAB offload is required, that is agreed in writing before delivery. One-trip grade carries 12 months of cover against structural defects and water ingress. You also keep 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and separately 30 days to reject the goods if they are faulty.

On a shorter footprint, the 20ft one-trip high cube carries the identical 9ft 6in height over half the length. If one-trip stock is beyond the budget, there is the used 40ft x 8ft high cube and the wind and watertight 40ft HC.
