20ft Open Side Shipping Container – One Trip – With Side Doors

£3,495.00

Full-length side doors turn a 20ft box into something you can load at any point along its length, rather than only through one 8ft end. This one-trip shell keeps the end doors as well, so you can still through-load when that suits. Factory paint, unmarked marine ply floor and a 5.82 m side opening.

Description

A one-trip 20ft open side container: hinged double doors run the full length of one 20ft side, and the conventional double doors at the end are retained. It has made a single loaded voyage from the factory, so the paint is original, the door seals are unmarked and the marine plywood floor has never been worked. Buyers choose this unit over a standard 20ft for one reason above all — a forklift can place and lift a pallet at any position along the 5.82 m side opening, instead of shuttling it down a 6 m corridor from the end.

Dimensions

  • External: 6.06 × 2.44 × 2.59 m (19 ft 11 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: approximately 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (19 ft 4 in × 7 ft 9 in × 7 ft 10 in)
  • End door opening: 2.34 m wide × 2.28 m high (7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 6 in)
  • Side opening: 5.82 m (19 ft 1 in) along the full 20ft flank

Build and specification

  • Corten weathering steel corrugated panels and roof
  • Hinged double doors along one full side, plus double doors at one 8ft end
  • Two locking bars per door leaf, with rubber gaskets on every closure
  • 28 mm (1⅛ in) marine-grade plywood floor on steel cross members
  • Forklift pockets on both sides for repositioning on hardstanding
  • One-trip condition: original factory finish, no accumulated repairs

What one-trip grade actually means here

One trip is a grade, not a synonym for new. The container was built, loaded once and shipped, then offered for sale — so expect a handful of transit scuffs and the occasional scrape on the door gear, and nothing else. On a side-door unit that matters more than it does on a plain box, because the side doors carry far more sealing surface than a single end opening. A shell that has spent ten years at sea will usually need gasket work on that flank; this one will not. The container condition guide sets out how one trip compares with cargo worthy and wind and watertight.

Where it fits

Racked stores where every bay has to stay reachable from outside. Narrow yards where there is no room to bring a truck square onto the end doors. Long items — pipe, timber, profile, racking sections — that load across the opening instead of being threaded in. And conversion work: with the side doors open the unit becomes an open-fronted bay, which is why kiosk, servery and exhibition builds so often start from this shell.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery anywhere in the UK is free, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable — no VAT is added at checkout. A 20ft unit lands from a tilt-bed lorry without a crane, but a side-door container needs more than a footprint: leave clear ground along the opening flank so the doors can swing to their stops, and set the unit level so they close square. Where the site needs a HIAB or crane offload, that is agreed in writing before delivery. As a one-trip unit it carries 12 months of cover against structural defects and water ingress, alongside your statutory rights — 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a separate 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty.

Related units

Prefer a pre-owned shell? The used 20ft full side access container has an identical door layout in wind and watertight grade, while the nearest match in fresh stock is the 20ft open side full side access container. For twice the length and an extra foot of height, step up to the 40ft high cube open side container with four doors. Chemical and drum storage that also needs side loading is covered by the 20ft open side bunded store. The rest of the range sits under open side containers.
