Description

A 53ft high cube steel shipping container: the longest size in general circulation, and wider than the 8ft international standard. That width is not incidental. 53ft units are domestic road and rail boxes rather than ISO sea containers, which is exactly why they measure 102 in across the interior — enough for two 4ft pallets side by side with clearance, where a 96 in ISO container forces you into single file with a wasted strip down one flank.

Things to know about the 53ft size

• The 102 in width is the headline feature — you store in rows rather than single file
• The extra width means no stacking or twist-locking with a standard 8ft container
• They are not ISO sea containers, so they are not the unit to buy for onward sea freight
• Get the pad planned in advance — firm level ground across the full 53ft, plus a long straight approach

Be realistic about the footprint

This is the largest thing we sell and it is the one most often bought without measuring first. Sixteen metres of level ground with a straight run for the delivery vehicle is a genuine constraint on most yards, and unlike an ISO box you cannot solve an access problem by stacking two smaller units later — nothing in the standard range mates with it. If you are not certain the site takes it, tell us the dimensions and access and we will say so before you order rather than after.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout — the price shown is what you pay in full. Ground-level delivery is made on a tilt trailer, so no crane is normally required; send us your postcode and delivery address and we will confirm what is achievable at your site. Where a crane or HIAB offload does turn out to be necessary, that is agreed in writing before delivery. This unit carries 12 months of cover against structural defects and water ingress, and separately you keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty.
