A 10ft half height open top container built for offshore service and certified to DNV 2.7-1, EN 12079 and ISO/CSC. The certification is the point: it is what allows the unit to be lifted onto a vessel or a platform deck in a dynamic sea state, rather than merely craned around a yard. Half height keeps the top rail at 1.28 metres, so bulk material can be tipped or grabbed in from above and the loaded centre of gravity stays low. Corten steel throughout, stackable, and available with DNV-certified slings.

What the DNV 2.7-1 certification actually buys you

A standard container is designed to be lifted in still conditions and stacked. DNV 2.7-1 and EN 12079 cover offshore containers handled between a moving vessel and a fixed installation, where the lift itself imposes shock loads a yard crane never generates. That is why the padeyes, the frame and the sling set are all part of the certified assembly, and why a certificated unit and an identical-looking uncertificated one are not interchangeable. If your operation is onshore, you are paying for something you will not use.

Typical duty

Drilling and completion consumables, drill cuttings, tooling and spares moving between shore base and installation. Quarry, mining and civils bulk where the load reaches maximum weight long before it fills a full-height box. Anywhere a small, very heavy load needs to be top-loaded and lifted repeatedly.

Delivery, offload and cover

Delivery is free anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the whole price because no VAT is added at checkout. This is one of the easier units in the range to place: 2.99 metres long and 1,700 kg empty, it goes on a rigid tilt-bed rather than an artic and needs far less approach room than a full-length container. Its low profile also means no overhead clearance problem at gateways. Where a crane or HIAB offload suits the site better, that is agreed in writing before delivery. As a new unit it is covered for 12 months against structural defects and water ingress. Separately, you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a distinct 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Related offshore and bulk units

Onshore mining and quarry work, with no offshore certification needed, is covered by the open top half height shipping containers in a longer shell. Full height with a roof over it is the 20ft DNV offshore-rated containers. A lighter load that simply needs loading from above usually belongs in a full-height open top container. Offshore, hazardous and bulk-handling stock together makes up the specialised container range.
