The largest container in our range, supplied used only. A 45ft pallet-wide high cube is both longer and wider than a standard ISO box — an extra foot of height and four extra inches across — and it is the width that buyers are really paying for. Put two Euro pallets side by side inside a standard 8ft container and the tolerance left to a forklift operator is almost nothing. Widen to 2.50 m external and the 45ft pallet-wide holds 33 Euro pallets against the 30 a 40ft high cube will take — three more on every movement, which counts for anyone storing or shipping by the pallet.

Dimensions

  • External: 13.71 × 2.50 × 2.89 m (45 ft 0 in × 8 ft 2 in × 9 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: 13.56 × 2.43 × 2.69 m (44 ft 5 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 10 in)
  • Pallet capacity: up to 33 Euro pallets or 26 standard pallets
  • Dimensions vary slightly between manufacturers

Condition and specification

  • Guaranteed wind and watertight, structurally sound stock
  • Plywood floors throughout
  • Multiple air vents and internal lashing points
  • Second-hand units vary in appearance and paintwork
  • Repainting available where a fresh finish is wanted
  • Lockbox can be fitted before delivery at additional cost

What pallet-wide actually buys you

Only the width. The length gain over a 40ft is useful but incremental; the width gain changes how the floor is used, because it is the difference between storing in rows and storing in single file with a wasted strip down one side. If your stock does not move on Euro pallets, a 45ft pallet-wide gives you very little that a 40ft high cube does not, and it is harder to site. If it does, the maths is straightforward. One caution: because these are wider than the 8ft international standard, they will not twist-lock or stack with your existing ISO boxes.

Certification, if it matters

These units are graded and guaranteed wind and watertight. Where the container is heading back into onward sea freight and cargo worthy certification therefore matters, do not assume it: ask us to confirm CSC status on the individual unit before ordering, because the two grades are not interchangeable. Our container grading guide explains how wind and watertight and cargo worthy differ.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free UK-wide, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout. At nearly 14 m this is the longest unit we deliver and the width compounds the problem: a pallet-wide container needs a longer, straighter approach than a 40ft and more clearance through gateways, so measure both before you order rather than on delivery day. Crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Sold wind and watertight, it carries 3 months of cover from delivery against water ingress and door operation, and separately you keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and 30 days to reject the goods if they are faulty.

Related units

Across the rest of the 45ft family, budget buyers land on the heavy-duty used 45ft container, while a tidier exterior is the argument for the 45ft steel shipping container. For new stock in this length, see the 45ft high cube in bold blue. If a 45ft unit is too big for the space available, shorter lengths are covered by the full 9ft 6in high cube range. Our container buyers guide takes sizing, grading and total delivered cost a step at a time.
