45ft Steel Shipping Containers

A 45ft steel shipping container: five feet longer than the largest standard ISO box, and the most capacity you can put on a single delivery. Supplied wind and water tight, with all-steel construction and secure double doors, it suits high-capacity storage and transport where a 40ft simply runs out of floor. The extra five feet costs more than the steel

A 45ft container gives roughly 12 per cent more floor area than a 40ft, and for a warehousing or materials-handling operation filling by volume that is a real gain on a single foundation and a single delivery. But the extra length is not free, and the cost is mostly logistical rather than financial.

Forty-five-foot units sit outside standard ISO length, so they are less common, availability is irregular, and haulage is more constrained than for a 40ft. On site the difference is more pronounced than the numbers suggest: an extra 1.5 m of rigid steel needs a correspondingly longer straight approach and a wider swept path, and yards that just about accommodate a 40ft delivery frequently cannot take a 45ft at all. Measure before you order rather than after.

Where it fits

Material handling and warehousing overflow, job-site storage on large compounds, inventory buffering where floor area is the binding constraint, and any operation that would otherwise take two containers and would rather take one.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free UK-wide, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable — no VAT is added at checkout. Access is the main constraint at this length: allow a clear straight run of around 28 m, firm and level standing along the whole footprint, and no low cables or branches over the drop point. Because extended-length stock is less common, treat lead times as longer than for standard sizes and confirm availability when you enquire. HIAB or crane offload is agreed in writing before delivery.

Sold wind and water tight, the unit is covered for three months from delivery: dry inside under normal weather conditions, with doors that open, close and lock. Cosmetic condition is excluded. Separately from that, you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty.
