A powder-coated steel shipping container door stay that holds one leaf of a container door open at a fixed position so it cannot swing shut. Container doors are heavy, they hang on four hinges and they catch the wind like a sail — a stay protects the hinges and locking gear from that loading, and protects anyone standing in the opening while the container is being worked.
Fitting it takes no tools
With the door open, drop the stay into position, tighten the support, then push the locking pin home and secure the clip. Nothing is drilled, welded or permanently fixed, so the stay can be moved between containers or taken off altogether if a unit is sold on. With the door closed it folds flat against the leaf, leaving nothing sticking out for a passing forklift to catch.
Where it earns its keep
- Exposed yards, coastal sites and ridge-top locations where wind loading is a daily fact
- Containers opened and closed repeatedly through the working day
- Compound stores and tool containers worked alongside moving plant
- Any site where the doors stand open while loading is in progress
Ordering and delivery
A door stay is small enough to post, and delivery is free across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. The listed price is the total payable, with no VAT added at checkout. If it is not what you expected you have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and separately a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Fit it out properly
Most buyers order a stay with the rest of the door hardware: a high security container padlock for the lock box and a container ramp if wheeled equipment goes through the opening. Browse the full container accessories range, see the units these fit in shipping containers, or read the buyer’s guide on what is worth adding to a new container.
