A 190 × 190 mm wireless magnetic container ceiling light with a built-in PIR sensor, putting out 300 lumens from ultrabright LEDs. There are no windows in a steel container, so anything more than a couple of feet inside the doors sits in the dark — and running a supply into a box that may be moved or sold on is rarely worth the trouble. This unit magnets straight onto the corrugated steel, needs no trunking, no consumer unit and no electrician, and comes down as quickly as it goes up.
How the sensor behaves
- Movement detected up to 6 m away
- Stays lit for 20 seconds after the last movement
- Only activates once darkness is detected, which is what preserves the batteries
- Estimated 6 to 12 months of battery life at 8 to 10 operations a day
- Runs on four D cells, supplied with the unit
- 300 lumens from ultrabright LEDs, in a white housing
Mounting and placement
The magnet holds directly to bare corrugated steel on the walls or ceiling. Where a container has been lined out in ply or melamine there is no steel to grip, so use the screw fixing option instead. As a guide, allow one light per 10 ft of container length, and fit them above the walkway instead of above the racking, so nothing sitting on the top shelf blocks the beam.
Buying one
Batteries are in the box, so there is nothing else to order, and delivery is free throughout the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey. The price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. You have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, plus a separate 30-day right to reject the goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if they are faulty.
Lighting the outside too
For the approach and the doors themselves, the solar-powered container floodlight covers the same ground where no mains supply reaches the site at all. Inside, heavy duty container racking and dry sticks round out a basic storage fit-out. Browse all container accessories and the storage containers they are meant for, or read the buyer’s guide on fitting one out.
