Door width is the number that decides the purchase

Buyers tend to check the internal length and stop there. The dimension that actually determines whether something fits is the door opening — 2.343 m wide and 2.278 m high on a standard 20ft unit — because everything has to pass through it.

That matters more often than people expect. A standard UK pallet at 1.2 m goes through easily; two side by side do not. A compact tractor or a ride-on mower usually clears the height, but a machine with a roll bar or a cab frequently does not. A pallet of goods on a truck-mounted forklift needs the mast to clear 2.278 m as well as the load. Measure the widest and tallest item you intend to put inside, add clearance for the handling equipment, and check it against the door figures rather than the internal ones.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free anywhere in the UK, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey included, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. A 20ft unit arrives on a tilt-bed, which reverses in and slides the container off the back, so you need firm, level ground and a clear straight approach of roughly three times the container length. Where that is not possible, HIAB or crane offload can be arranged and is agreed in writing before delivery. Mainland England and Wales is typically 3 to 7 working days, with longer bands for the Highlands, the islands, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.

As used stock supplied wind and watertight, each container is covered for three months from delivery: dry inside under normal weather conditions, with doors that open, close and lock. Cosmetic condition is excluded. Separately from that, you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a distinct 30-day right to reject the goods if they turn out to be faulty.
