Scotland is the largest delivery region we cover by road distance, and the one where planning the final approach matters most. A 40ft container heading for Aberdeenshire, Caithness or Argyll covers ground that is straightforward motorway as far as the Central Belt and then increasingly rural. Single-track sections, seasonal weather on the A9 and A82, and forestry or croft access all change what a rigid artic can reach, so the practical question is rarely the distance — it is the last few hundred metres.

Delivery is free to Scotland on every container we sell, and the price you see is the price you pay — nothing is added at checkout. Offload by HIAB or crane is agreed in writing before delivery, so you know how the container is coming off the lorry before it leaves us.

Grangemouth is Scotland’s principal container terminal, with Greenock handling deep-sea traffic on the Clyde. Containers reaching Scottish owners have very often entered the UK further south and travelled north by road regardless of which port is nearest, because the deep-sea services calling at Felixstowe and Southampton carry far more boxes than the Scottish terminals do.

Site access
Island deliveries to Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles, Skye, Mull and Islay involve a ferry leg, which needs to be arranged rather than assumed — ferry operators have their own limits on trailer length and weight. On the mainland, the most common obstacle we see in the Highlands is a farm or estate track that is fine for a tractor but too soft or too tight for a loaded artic.
A loaded 40ft container arrives on an articulated lorry. It needs firm, reasonably level ground, room for the vehicle to turn and space clear of overhead cables and branches for the offload. A 10ft or 20ft unit is considerably more forgiving. If you are unsure whether your site works, tell us about the approach and we will tell you honestly before you order.
