Spill containment and full side access are normally separate conversations; here they arrive on one unit. A flank that opens along its whole length on double hinged doors, an end that opens conventionally, and a working surface of galvanised open mesh deck slung above a sealed sump. The base is a one-trip shell, with two locking bars per door leaf, a factory-fitted lockbox and 24 vents moving air through.

  • End door opening: 2.34 m wide × 2.28 m high (7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 6 in)
  • Side opening: 5.82 m (19 ft 1 in)

  • Double hinged doors along one full side, plus double doors at the end

  • Twin locking bars on each leaf, and a lockbox fitted at the factory

How the bunded mesh floor works

Drums and IBCs stand on mesh, not on a solid container floor. A drip or a split drops through the deck into the sump underneath, putting the escape below the level people work at rather than out across it. An open deck buys two more things: the sump can be inspected without lifting the stock off it, and a leak shows from above on an ordinary walk-round rather than the day something gets moved.

Handling drums without shuffling them

Load through the end alone and every drum in front of the one you want comes out first — which, with full containers, is where manual-handling injuries and spills come from. A 5.82 m side opening puts a forklift or drum trolley within direct reach of any deck position. The 24 vents give the through-draught that vapour-producing goods need, and the lockbox and twin locking bars secure the unit on an open site.

Confirm the specification before you order

Containment volume, ventilation and signage requirements vary with the substance stored and with the conditions on your own site — not something a product page can settle. Tell us what is going inside and we will confirm the specification before the unit is built. Getting this right at the order stage costs nothing; getting it wrong means a store that does not satisfy an inspection.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free UK-wide, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey included, and no VAT is added at checkout. Siting a bunded store has one requirement above the usual: it must finish genuinely level, because a sump out of true pools to one corner and gives a false reading on capacity. Firm, level bearing under all four corners, and clear ground along the opening flank for the side doors. Crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Workmanship on the conversion is covered for 12 months, and the one-trip shell it is built from carries 12 months against structural defects and water ingress. Separately, you keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and 30 days to reject the goods if they are faulty.

Other bunded options

Without the side access, the 20ft open mesh floor bunded store gives the same deck and sump behind end doors alone, while the 10ft open mesh floor bunded store fits a smaller drum count or a tight compound. Goods that must stay clear of a bund yet still be contained tend to point buyers at the 20ft raised bunded store. Browse the wider open side container range, or request a quote and we will work the specification through with you.
