A flat pack store built specifically for fuels, chemicals and other substances that must not be kept on an open yard. The design point is the floor: a raised open steel grid sitting above a sealed sump, so anything leaking from a drum drains through and is contained rather than spreading across the ground. Insulated panels moderate the temperature swing inside, and the unit arrives flat packed for assembly in position.
Size and format
- Nominal footprint 4 × 2 m (13 ft 1 in × 6 ft 7 in)
- Raised open steel floor over an integrated sealed sump
- Insulated wall and roof panels
- Double doors for drum and jerry can handling
- Hazard warning signage pre-fitted
- Supplied flat packed for on-site assembly
Exact external and internal dimensions and the sump capacity are confirmed in writing on your quotation — they are the two figures worth having before you plan a bund layout, so ask rather than assume.
Where this unit sits in your COSHH duties
Be clear about what a product can and cannot do. This store is designed for storing substances covered by the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, and the sump base, insulation, lockable double doors and signage are the features that help you meet them. It does not, on its own, make a site compliant. Compliance depends on your own COSHH assessment, on what you actually store and in what quantity, on segregation of incompatible substances, and on the arrangements you make for inspection and spill response. We make no representation that this unit satisfies any particular regulation or standard for your situation — if you need that confirmed, take it up with your safety adviser or the enforcing authority.
What goes in it
- Solvents, adhesives, resins and cleaning chemicals
- Fuels, oils and lubricants, whether in drums or in jerry cans
- Small quantities of hazardous waste held pending collection
- Paints, coatings and site consumables that have to stay off the ground
Compressed gases need a different solution — see our gas cylinder storage rather than putting cylinders in here.
How the sump base works, and how to look after it
Because the floor is a grid above the sump, nothing stands in its own spill and the drums stay out of contact with leaked product. That only holds if the sump is kept clear: check it on the same interval as your other environmental inspections and empty it well before it approaches capacity, because a full sump contains nothing. Stand the unit on firm, level ground, well clear of drains and watercourses, and leave room at the front for both doors to swing right open.
Delivery and buying
Delivery is free across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout, so the price shown is the total payable. Arriving flat packed means the unit does not need craning into position — it is assembled where it will stand, which is often the only way to get a bunded store into a yard hemmed in by buildings. Where a specific placement or offload arrangement is needed, it is agreed in writing before delivery. Cover runs 12 months on the unit as supplied new, alongside 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a separate 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Related storage
Where the volumes are larger and a rigid steel shell suits better, the 8ft x 8ft raised and flat floor bunded store is the smaller of two options; the other is the 20ft x 8ft raised bunded store. The rest of the flat pack range is worth a look too, and when you request a quote it helps to say what is going in and in what quantity.
