A shallow open bookcase with fixed shelves, taking three rows of files at desk height. Where a whole site team is pulling the same drawings and registers off the shelf all day, open shelving does a job a locked cabinet cannot: everything is visible and reachable without anyone hunting for a key.
Dimensions and build
- Depth: 300 mm (11.8 in) — sits tight against a cabin wall
- Height: 727 mm (2 ft 5 in) — lines up with desk height
- Capacity: takes 3 rows of files
- Shelves: fixed, so the unit stays square under load
- Width: please confirm with us against your cabin layout when ordering
Desk height is the useful dimension
At 727 mm the top of the bookcase is level with a standard desk, so it can run alongside a workstation as continuous surface rather than standing as a separate piece of furniture in the way. In a narrow cabin that is worth more than shelf capacity: a 300 mm depth against the wall leaves the walking route intact, and the top becomes somewhere for a printer or a kettle tray without taking desk space.
What tends to end up on it
- Live drawing registers, O&M files and specification folders
- Shared reference copies that the whole team dips into
- Storage at low level with a usable top for a printer or a kettle tray
- A low divider breaking a long cabin into working and meeting ends
Two practical notes
Put the heavier files on the bottom shelf so the unit stays planted, which matters most in a cabin that gets moved between sites. Anything confidential belongs in a lockable cabinet; leave this piece for material that is meant to be picked up without asking permission. Used that way the two complement each other rather than competing for the same job.
Delivery
Delivery is free throughout the UK, taking in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout, so the price shown is what you pay. It needs no lifting plant and is easily added to a cabin or furniture order. The 14-day right to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 applies, and a separate 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Fitting out the rest of the cabin
Stand it alongside the 1500mm single pedestal desk, and where paperwork has to be secured add the lockable 4 drawer metal filing cabinet next to it. It works in office units right across our site cabin range — the 32ft x 10ft jackleg plastisol office cabin among them. The other fit-out pieces sit under cabin accessories.
