Description
What defines a tunnel container is full hinged cargo doors on both ends instead of one. Two things follow that a standard box cannot give you. First, loading becomes drive-through: pallets enter at one end and leave at the other, with no shuffling. Second, the shell can be partitioned into two halves, each secured independently. These are one-trip units, so the container has carried cargo exactly once — clean paint, an unmarked floor and new door seals.

What settles it is that neither end is a poor relation. Both are specified in full: hinged double doors, a pair of locking bars per leaf, and a lockbox at each end fitted at the factory. Put a bulkhead across the middle and one 20ft shell becomes two 10ft stores, each locking independently, each with a full-width opening — two lettable units off one delivery, one pitch, one set of groundworks. Single-tenant users get a quieter version of the same benefit: nothing ends up stranded against a back wall you cannot reach.
Loading and handling
- Forklift work. Load at one end, draw stock out at the other; rotating stock no longer means emptying the box to get at the back of it.
- Airflow. With both ends open a genuine through-draught develops — welcome when you are working inside, or airing the unit out after damp goods have been in it.
- Positioning. Forklift pockets on both sides allow repositioning without a crane — but leave door-swing clearance at both ends when siting.
- Load capacity. CSC plated to 30 tonnes maximum gross, on a 28 mm marine plywood floor over steel cross members.
Delivery and cover
Delivery is free everywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and no VAT is added at checkout — the price shown is the total. Stock sits at depots around the country and the nearest suitable unit is allocated against your postcode, so mainland England and Wales normally falls in the 3 to 7 working day band, with Scottish, Northern Irish and island destinations longer. Delivery is by tilt-bed onto firm, level ground with a straight approach. The siting mistake specific to a tunnel container is planning clearance at one end only; a blocked far end means paying for a feature you cannot use. Where a crane offload is required, it is agreed in writing before delivery.
As one-trip stock this container carries 12 months against structural defects and water ingress. Separately, you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
