Description
The Deep End Design is the variable-depth version of our full-length container pool. Within a single converted 40ft shell it steps from a shallow end — for wading, for children, for standing about in — down to a deeper section for proper swimming and exercise. It is one pool doing two jobs without splitting the footprint, which is the whole reason people specify it over the flat-floored layout.
Dimensions of the shell
- External length 12.19 m (40 ft)
- External width 2.44 m (8 ft)
- External height 2.59 m (8 ft 6 in)
- Depth stepped, with the profile agreed during the build
How the stepped profile is built
The shell height is what makes it possible. At 2.59 m there is enough depth to work with before the pool has to be sunk into the ground to achieve a deep end, which is exactly the compromise a shorter or lower shell forces on you. Where the step falls, how steep it is and how deep each zone finishes are settled with you before fabrication — this is not a stock profile with the position marked on a drawing somewhere.
Who the container pool deep end suits
Households mixing small children with adults who want to swim properly; anyone doing resistance swimming or aqua exercise, which needs depth to be useful; and gardens where the shallow end doubles as a wading and seating area rather than dead water. If everyone using it swims, a single depth is simpler — see the 40ft Container Pool in Classic Design instead.
A varied depth raises the safety stakes rather than lowering them, because the floor changes under you. Depth markings, a cover, fencing and supervision are the owner’s responsibility, and a stepped profile is a reason to take them more seriously, not less.
Getting 12 metres of steel into a garden
A 40ft shell arrives on an articulated lorry and is craned over whatever stands between the road and the pool position. That lift, not the garden, is usually the deciding factor: overhead cables, tree canopies, lane widths and a hard standing for the crane all have to work. We settle depth profile, filtration and heating before fabrication starts and access before a date is booked, so nothing turns into a surprise on the day.
What you get when you buy
Free delivery across the UK, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey included. No VAT added at checkout, so the price shown is the price payable. Crane or HIAB offload agreed in writing before delivery. Roughly 2 to 6 weeks for a specialist build. Twelve months’ cover on the fabrication workmanship, plus 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a separate 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Planning consent depends on your site rather than the pool — see the planning permission guide. For a shorter shell at a high specification, look at the 30ft Container Pool in Premium Build, or browse all sizes under container pools.
