Description
A 40ft high cube shipping container converted into a seven-bay multi-store complex — each bay separately lockable and fitted with its own commercial-grade roller shutter door. It is a turnkey unit rather than a shell: professionally refurbished and painted, so it can be sited and let out straight away. The appeal for self-storage operators, farm diversification projects and contractors sub-letting compound space is arithmetic — one delivery, one groundworks job and one planning conversation produce seven lettable units.
Dimensions
- External: 12.19 × 2.44 × 2.90 m (40 ft 0 in × 8 ft 0 in × 9 ft 6 in)

- Bays: seven, each independently lockable
- Access: one commercial-grade roller shutter door per bay
Specification
- Built on a 40ft high cube shell for greater capacity per bay
- Seven individual lockable storage units
- Commercial-grade roller shutter doors throughout
- Heavy-duty steel construction, weather resistant and secure
- Professionally refurbished and repainted before sale
Running a container self-storage site
One delivery becomes seven separate storage units, each bay independently locked, and the high cube height lets tenants stack higher within the same footprint — which is what determines what each bay can earn. Two practical points worth thinking through before you commit: roller shutters need clear ground in front of every bay, so the unit cannot be backed tight against a boundary the way a plain container can; and if you intend to add more units later, plan the spacing now, because retrofitting access lanes between sited containers is expensive.
Who buys these
- Self-storage businesses adding capacity without a building
- Construction sites needing separately secured equipment stores per trade
- Event and seasonal vendor storage let by the pitch
- Farms and estates diversifying yard space into lettable units
Delivery, siting and cover
UK delivery is free — mainland Britain plus Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey — and no VAT is added at checkout, so the price shown is the total payable. This unit needs more thought on placement than a plain 40ft: as well as the usual straight approach and roughly 18 m of firm, level ground, the ground must stay level along the whole run, because roller shutters bind at the first sign of a twisted frame and a bay that will not close is a bay you cannot let. Crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Workmanship on the conversion, including the shutter installation, is covered for 12 months. Separately, you keep 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Related units
A smaller multi-tenant unit means the 20ft multi-unit storage solution; a single bay with a roller shutter means the 20ft roller shutter conversion container. Other conversions appear under modified containers, with plain shells under high cube containers. Request a quote if you are ordering multiple units.
