Description
A preloved 40ft container: ex-shipping-line steel that has served its cargo life, been inspected and graded, and is sold wind and water tight for on-site storage or project use. Preloved is the sensible middle ground between a tired budget shell and a one-trip unit — the steel has worked for a living, but every unit is checked before it leaves us rather than sold sight-unseen.

Lashing points are the detail people overlook
Most 40ft storage buyers never think about the lashing rings welded along the bottom side rails, and then discover they need them. They are the anchor points for ratchet straps, and in a container that is 12 m long they are what stops a load shifting the full length of the box the first time it is nudged by a forklift, or the first time the unit is craned to a new position with contents inside.
If you are storing anything that can roll, topple or slide — drums, coiled material, machinery on skids, stacked furniture — check the lashing provision before you buy rather than improvising with a rope over the top. This unit has multiple internal lashing points as standard.
What it suits
Personal, commercial and industrial storage; workshop conversions; mobile site setups; and bulk storage measured in truckloads rather than pallets. At 12 m internally it gives roughly twice the floor area of a 20ft unit for well short of twice the price.
Delivery, siting and cover
Delivery is free throughout the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. A 40ft unit is the most access-sensitive size we deliver: the lorry needs a clear straight run of roughly 25 m and firm, level standing, and it cannot turn a 12 m container in a confined yard. Measure the approach before ordering — if it is tight, two 20ft units will often solve the same storage problem with far less delivery risk. HIAB or crane offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Mainland England and Wales is typically 3 to 7 working days.
Sold wind and water tight, it is covered for three months from delivery: dry inside under normal weather conditions, with doors that open, close and lock. Cosmetic condition is excluded, and on preloved stock you should expect dents, scrapes and patch paint. Your statutory rights are separate and additional: 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a 30-day right to reject if the goods are faulty.
Other 40ft grades
Two listings are worth setting beside it: the 40ft used shipping container, and the individually inspected clean used 40ft shipping container. Between them the budget usually settles on one grade. More sizes are listed under storage containers, the condition guide explains our grading, and the shipping policy sets out delivery lead times and site requirements.
