Description

A specified rather than stock purchase: a 20ft one-trip container built to order with a full electrical installation, interior LED lighting and an exterior respray in a colour of your choosing. Because the work is quoted against a specification, this listing describes a build rather than a single unit sitting on the ground — the starting point is a conversation about what the container has to do, what power is available, and how many you need. Typical outcomes are site offices, workshops and secure stores that arrive ready to switch on.

Base shell dimensions

  • External: 6.06 × 2.44 × 2.59 m (19 ft 11 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Internal, before lining: 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (19 ft 4 in × 7 ft 9 in × 7 ft 10 in)
  • Cargo door opening: 2.34 × 2.28 m (7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 6 in)
  • Note that insulating and lining reduces the internal figures — allow for it when planning a fit-out

Specification options

  • Electrical fit-out. Consumer unit, wiring runs, socket positions and an external supply inlet, positioned around the way the unit will genuinely be worked in.
  • Lighting. LED lighting inside so the unit stays usable through the winter, switched to match where the doors sit.
  • Finish. Full exterior respray in a colour of your choice — corporate colours for client-facing sites, or something low-visibility where the unit needs to disappear.
  • Openings and security. Personnel doors, windows, vents, roller shutters and extra locking, all fabricated as part of the same order.
  • Interior. Insulation, lining, partitions, racking or benching — the choice follows whether the finished unit is an office, a store or a workshop.

Why the build starts from a one-trip shell

No conversion is ever better than the shell it is built on. One trip means exactly one loaded voyage out of the factory, which leaves flat panels, seals that are still supple, a floor nobody has worked on and a paint system that has never been patched. On a fit-out that is a practical matter, not a cosmetic preference. Conduit and back boxes land on walls that are actually true, fresh topcoat goes over sound steel instead of a decade of marine touch-ups, and nothing hidden surfaces halfway through lining out and first fix. How this grade sits against cargo-worthy and used stock is set out in our container condition guide.

Starting from one-trip stock matters more on a conversion than it does on a plain storage box. Cutting a door, window or vent into straight, unrepaired panel finishes better and faster than working around old patches, and the paint underneath is all one age, so a respray is not fighting a patchwork of earlier repairs.

Ordering, lead time and delivery

Because each unit is quoted against a specification, lead times sit in the made-to-order band of roughly 2 to 6 weeks rather than the days a stock container takes. Delivery is free across the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price agreed is the total payable — no VAT is added at checkout. A fitted-out 20ft unit still arrives by tilt-bed and needs firm, level ground with a straight approach; where the pitch can only be reached by crane, that is agreed in writing before delivery. If you are taking several units to sit alongside each other, tell us at quotation stage, because door orientation and cable routes are far easier to get right on paper than on site.

The one-trip shell is covered for 12 months against structural defects and water ingress, and the conversion work carries 12 months on workmanship. Separately from both, you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Compare before you specify

It is worth pricing this against the rest of our modified container range before committing. The 20ft one-trip roller shutter conversion with RAL 7035 respray is the option where wide-open access matters more than a lined interior, and a ready-built 20ft workshop container makes sense if you would rather buy the fit-out off the shelf than design one. Send us your specification and we will come back with a delivered price.
