20FT WORKSHOP CONTAINERS – Built for Durability & Performance

The access door decides how the unit works: a roller lifts into the header, so the container can stand hard against a fence and still open full width, while a personnel door loses less heat and locks down in seconds. Set bench height and shelf runs at build stage, rather than drilling into a lining you paid to have sealed.

Description

A new 20ft workshop container supplied insulated, weather-sealed and fully lockable, with LED lighting and an electrical package already installed. You choose the access door — a full-width roller door or a personnel door — and that single decision shapes how the unit works for the next decade. Workbench and shelving packages can be specified with the build so the interior is laid out around your trade rather than adapted to it afterwards.

Dimensions

  • External: 6.058 × 2.438 × 2.591 m (19 ft 10 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: approximately 5.9 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (19 ft 4 in × 7 ft 9 in × 7 ft 10 in)
  • Internal floor area: approximately 13.8 m² (149 sq ft)

Choosing your access door

  • Roller door. Lifts into the header instead of swinging outward, so the container can sit hard against a boundary, a fence line or a parked vehicle while still opening across its whole width. The right call where mowers, bikes, wheeled plant or machines cross the threshold every day.
  • Personnel door. A smaller opening loses less heat, admits less weather and takes seconds to lock down at the end of a shift. The right call where the work happens inside the unit rather than being driven through it.

Why the lining is not optional

Bare steel tracks the outside air almost exactly, and its inner face condenses the moment warm air meets a cold panel. That is the mechanism behind rusted tools and spoiled materials in an unlined container. Lining the shell damps the swing, so the LED-lit interior stays workable through a July heatwave and a January frost alike, and anything left in place between visits is not sitting in its own moisture. Add weather sealing and full lockability and the result is a workshop, not a shed with a bench in it.

Fitting out the interior

Bench height, run length and shelf positions can all be set before the unit leaves, which is worth doing: retrofitting a bench into a finished container means drilling into a lining you have just paid to have sealed. Wiring is handled at build stage as well — internal LED lighting and power points go in at the works, leaving nothing electrical to do on site beyond bringing a supply to the unit. Send us a list of what has to live in there, machines and hand tools included, and the layout is drawn around it.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free anywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. If you have specified a roller door, leave clear standing room in front of it — the full width has to open without meeting a fence or a parked vehicle. The base must be firm and level at all four corners or the door will bind in its tracks. Crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Workmanship on the conversion is covered for 12 months, and separately you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Other sizes and ordering

Need less floor and still want a full bench run? The 10ft workshop and office container is the short version. Going the other way, doors at both ends turn the 40ft tunnel container workshop into a drive-through, and further fitted configurations are gathered under container workshops. Delivery bands are set out in our shipping policy; for anything bespoke, request a quote.
