Description

A used 30ft bulk container, ex-shipping-line and configured for material handled in volume rather than on pallets. Four top-opening lids allow loading from directly overhead by grab or conveyor, and a front tipping hatch lets the contents be discharged from the front without opening the main doors. At 9.12 m externally it fills the gap between a 20ft and a 40ft on sites that cannot take the longer unit.

Dimensions

  • External: 9.12 × 2.44 × 2.59 m (29 ft 11 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: 9.00 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (29 ft 6 in × 7 ft 9 in × 7 ft 10 in)
  • Door opening: 2.34 m wide × 2.28 m high (7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 6 in)
  • Weight: 2,940 kg

Build and configuration

  • Used, ex-shipping-line stock
  • All Cor-Ten steel construction
  • Four top-opening lids for overhead loading
  • Front tipping hatch for front discharge
  • Exterior hinged double doors at one end
  • Two locking bars on each door
  • Two forklift pockets on each side
  • Timber floor on steel cross members, though some units have fibreglass floors
  • Four or eight vents depending on model
  • Available in two-door and three-door configurations

Three things to confirm before you order

Thirty-foot containers were never built in the volumes that 20ft and 40ft units were, so stock is not uniform and availability moves quickly. Three variables are worth settling before you commit.

  • Door configuration. Stock arrives in both two-door and three-door layouts. Tell us how you intend to load and discharge and we will match a unit to it rather than sending whatever is nearest.
  • Floor type. Most units have a timber floor on steel cross members, but some carry a fibreglass floor, which washes down far more easily. Specify it if your material or your cleaning regime demands it.
  • Vent count. Units carry either four or eight vents. For damp or respiring materials such as grain, the higher count is worth asking for.

What a bulk unit is for

Aggregate, sand and spoil; grain and animal feed; waste and recyclate; and any material that is loaded by machine and discharged in volume. The combination of overhead lids and a front tipping hatch is what separates a bulk container from a plain dry van, and it changes the workflow completely.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free UK-wide, taking in Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. Thirty feet is an awkward length for haulage — too long for the smaller tilt-beds, comfortably within an artic’s capability — so access is the thing to check first: a clear straight approach and firm, level standing at the drop point. As with any top-loading unit, confirm there is clear airspace above the final position for your loading plant. HIAB or crane offload is agreed in writing before delivery.

Supplied as used ex-shipping-line stock, the container is covered for three months from delivery as wind and watertight: dry inside under normal weather, with doors that operate and seal. Cosmetic condition is excluded — expect dents, scrapes and shipping-line paint consistent with commercial service. Your statutory rights sit alongside: 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a distinct 30-day right to reject faulty goods.

Other units at this length

There is a second 30ft x 8ft used bulk container on the site, and a 30ft one trip cut down container for anyone wanting newer steel at this length. Access is the thing that decides a delivery at this size, so read the buyer’s guide before ordering; related stock is in storage containers.
