Description

This is our plain, no-frills 40ft: ex-shipping-line steel, bought for storage rather than for looks. Our technical team checks every unit before sale and supplies it wind and watertight, which is the one guarantee that actually counts when the contents have to survive a British winter dry. Roughly 12 m of internal length — about twice a 20ft unit for well short of twice the money.

Condensation is the thing that ruins stored goods

A wind and watertight container keeps rain out. What it cannot do on its own is stop moisture that is already inside from condensing on the roof and running back down onto your stock — the effect people call container rain. It happens when warm damp air is sealed in and the steel cools overnight, and it is the single most common cause of damaged contents in an otherwise sound box.

The four vents fitted here are the first line of defence, but they only work if you help them. Do not seal a container up with damp goods inside, leave a gap around stacked items so air can move, and keep pallets off the floor where you can. For long-term storage of anything moisture-sensitive, a few desiccant units cost very little against the value of what is inside.

Honest cosmetics

These containers have worked for a living. Dents, surface scrapes, mismatched paint and old shipping-line markings are normal and we do not pretend otherwise — they are characteristics of the grade, not faults. If the container needs to look presentable at a customer-facing location, or if you want the extra headroom for racking, the high cube and Grade A options are the ones to compare against.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free across the UK, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey included, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. At 3,420 kg a 40ft unit needs clear, level access for the delivery vehicle: a straight approach of roughly 25 m, firm standing, and nothing overhead at the drop point. Set the container on sleepers or slabs under the corner castings if the ground is soft, because a 12 m shell that settles unevenly will bind its doors. HIAB or crane offload is agreed in writing before delivery.

Supplied wind and watertight, it is covered for three months from delivery — dry inside under normal weather conditions, with doors that open, close and lock. Cosmetic condition is excluded. Your statutory rights sit alongside that as separate claims: 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty.
