Description
A used 20ft refrigerated Conex container that previously cooled technical equipment in a commercial facility and is now available following the site’s closure. It is not configured like a standard reefer, and that is the point of it. Instead of an integral refrigeration pack built into the front wall, it uses an insulated shell with rooftop-mounted Fujitsu split air conditioning — the arrangement equipment rooms and comms cabinets are normally built with. If you are cooling electronics rather than food, this is closer to what you actually want.
Dimensions
- External: 6.06 × 2.44 × 2.59 m (20 ft × 8 ft × 8 ft 6 in)
- Insulated interior throughout for temperature stability
- Steel construction giving secure, weather-resistant protection
What is included
- Used 20ft refrigerated Conex container in solid working condition
- Rooftop-mounted Fujitsu split air conditioning units, fully included in the sale
- Small perforations already cut for internal wiring and cable access
- Insulated envelope reducing solar gain and daily temperature swing
- The air conditioning units are removed for safe transit and shipped separately; reinstallation is straightforward
How this differs from a standard reefer
A conventional reefer runs one integral machine designed to hold food-grade temperatures, and when it faults you need a reefer engineer. Split air conditioning is ordinary building services equipment: cheaper to service, easier to source parts for, and within the competence of any local air conditioning contractor. It is also better matched to the load an equipment room actually presents, which is steady heat rejection from kit running continuously rather than pulling down a warm mass of product. The existing wiring perforations save a cutting and sealing job during fit-out, and the insulated envelope keeps working even if you later change the cooling method entirely.
Suited to
Remote equipment shelters and comms cabinets. Battery and inverter rooms. Job site server and control enclosures. Any application where kit needs a stable, cooled, secure environment and food-grade refrigeration would be the wrong tool.
Delivery in two parts, and your cover
Delivery is free across the UK including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable because no VAT is added at checkout. This delivery has one feature worth planning for: the air conditioning units travel separately from the container for their own protection, so arrange for both to be received and stored securely, and schedule your contractor for after the container is in its final position rather than before. The container itself is a straightforward 20ft tilt-bed delivery onto level, load-bearing ground, needing roughly twice its length as a clear approach. Where a crane or HIAB offload suits the position better, that is agreed in writing before delivery. Supplied wind and watertight, the shell is covered for three months against water ingress and door operation. Separately from that you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and a distinct 30-day right to reject the goods if they are faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
When the job really is food-grade cold storage
Two listings answer it: the used 20ft reefer containers, and the 20ft mobile cold storage freezer and cooler. Every size and machine type we hold is set out in the refrigerated container range. Power supply and siting are the questions worth settling before an order goes in, and both are handled in the container buyers guide.
