Description

A used 20ft container in bright industrial yellow, fitted with two heavy-duty roll-up doors along one side. Two separate openings in the same wall is an unusual specification and it exists for a reason: it lets one container behave like two. The original end cargo doors are retained, so full-length loading is still available when a single long item has to go in.

Dimensions

  • External: 6.06 × 2.44 × 2.59 m (19 ft 11 in × 8 ft 0 in × 8 ft 6 in)
  • Internal: 5.90 × 2.35 × 2.39 m (19 ft 4 in × 7 ft 9 in × 7 ft 10 in)
  • Floor area: roughly 14.9 m² (160 sq ft)
  • Side access: two roll-up doors in one long wall
  • End cargo doors: 2.34 × 2.28 m clear opening (7 ft 8 in × 7 ft 6 in)

Condition and finish

  • Wind and watertight grade — inspected and structurally sound
  • Bright industrial yellow exterior, high visibility on a working site
  • Two heavy-duty roll-up doors on the side, in framed apertures
  • Original end cargo doors and locking bars retained
  • Ground-level access throughout

Working with two side openings

How the space is used changes with two roll-up doors along one side, in ways a single opening cannot manage. The interior can be split into two independently accessed halves — useful if two trades, two departments or two tenants share the unit. Loading can happen at either end of a hardstanding without repositioning the truck. And on a retail or event pitch, one opening can trade while the other stays shuttered and locked, so stock and serving are separated without a second container.

The structural point is worth stating: two apertures in the same wall remove more panel than one, which is why both are framed. Treat a unit converted this way as a sited store rather than something to be stacked or repeatedly lifted.

Where it suits

  • Job sites where high visibility is wanted rather than avoided
  • Tool stores shared between trades who each want their own access
  • Pop-up retail and mobile workshops trading from one opening
  • Yard storage split between organised, separately managed stock

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free everywhere in the UK, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. The siting decision here is entirely about orientation: both shutters are in one wall, so that wall has to face your working area with hardstanding in front of it. Get this wrong and you have bought a plain container with two sealed openings. The unit arrives by tilt-bed and needs firm, level ground with a straight approach; where a crane offload is the only route onto the pitch, it is agreed in writing before delivery.

Wind and watertight is a defined grade, not a loose description; what it covers is set out in our container condition guide. As a wind and watertight unit it is covered for three months from delivery against water ingress and door operation, with 12 months on the workmanship of the shutter installations. Separately, you have 14 days to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Similar access conversions

One continuous span instead of two openings is the matte black 20ft with a 12 ft side roll-up door. Letting the space to more than one tenant takes the idea further: four doors and movable partitions, in the 20ft multi-unit storage conversion. Where the pitch is smaller, the compact answer is the 10ft container with roll-up door. More units in this class are listed under storage containers.
