PRODUCT DETAILS
The 40ft x 8ft used open top container is available for sale and delivery Globally & UK-wide.
Open top containers do not have the conventional steel corrugated container roof. Instead they have removable bows and a weatherproof tarpaulin which can be secured with ropes.
NEW AND USED OPEN TOP SHIPPING CONTAINERS
This significantly simplifies the loading and unloading process which is usually done by crane from above. The door header (above the door) can also be swung round / removed to allow easy access for the cargo.
Open top containers are ideal for the movement of machinery. The container must be shipped with the bows and tarpaulin which also provide some strength. If the machinery is over height then usually you will need to use a flat rack container which has no roof at all. Lashing rings are provided for securing the load during transport.

RELATED TOP-LOADING OPTIONS
Before committing to 40ft, it is worth checking whether the load actually needs the length. The 20ft used open top container takes the same crane loading in half the footprint and is easier to place on a constrained site. For dense bulk materials such as ore, sand or concentrates, the reduced side walls of an open top half height container give a lower center of gravity and a far easier discharge. Where the cargo is genuinely over height and cannot travel under a tarpaulin, a 40ft used flat rack is the correct choice instead. See the full open top container range, and our container buyers guide covers access and siting before delivery.
