Bulk liquid held in one certified vessel instead of a floor full of drums or IBCs, on a footprint the yard already handles. Steel grade, exterior finish and certification are each confirmed in writing before the unit is built, so nothing about the specification is left assumed.

Description

A steel tank container on a 20ft frame, for the movement and storage of bulk liquids — chemicals and oils among them. It is built on the standard 20ft ISO footprint, which is the practical point of the format: it handles, stacks, twist-locks and transports exactly like any other container in the yard, so no special handling equipment or storage arrangement is needed for it. The shell is heavy-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, and the exact grade for your order is confirmed in writing before build.

Dimensions

  • External footprint: 6.058 × 2.438 m (19 ft 10 in × 8 ft 0 in), standard 20ft ISO
  • Handling: standard corner castings, stackable and twist-locked
  • Finish: white as standard, or specified to your fleet colour

Why a tank container instead of drums or IBCs

The argument is handling risk. A bulk load split across drums or IBCs means every one of them is a separate lifting operation, a separate seal and a separate opportunity for a spill — and the more units there are, the more likely one is damaged in transit or left standing badly. A dedicated tank keeps the whole load in one certified vessel with one set of connections, which reduces both the handling count and the number of places a leak can start.

Specification

  • Heavy-gauge steel construction with corrosion-resistant finish
  • Standard 20ft ISO footprint for normal container handling
  • Suitable for transporting and storing a range of liquids
  • Choice of standard white or a specified exterior colour
  • Shell grade confirmed in writing before build

Certification: tell us the standard before you order

This is the part to settle first, because it is not something to discover after delivery. Units are available with ABS or LR certification, or certified to requirements you specify. Tell us the standard your operation has to meet and what you intend to carry, and we will confirm before ordering whether it can be supplied — rather than supplying a vessel and leaving you to establish whether it is acceptable for your product.

Delivery, siting and cover

Delivery is free UK-wide, including Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey, and the price shown is the total payable with no VAT added at checkout. Tank containers are ordered to specification, so lead time, certification and finish are agreed up front — work to the specialist band in our shipping policy. Because it handles as a standard 20ft container, delivery and offload are conventional; a firm, level standing bearing at all four corners is required, and crane or HIAB offload is agreed in writing before delivery. Manufacturing workmanship is covered for 12 months, and separately you have 14 days to change your mind under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and a 30-day right to reject the goods if faulty under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Related units and next steps

Cargo that is hazardous and not merely liquid is a job for the 20ft hazardous goods shipping container; compressed gases belong instead in gas cylinder storage. Offshore and energy work, where the lifting certification is the point, means the 20ft DNV offshore-rated containers. Other purpose-built units appear under specialised containers. When you request a quote, name the product you intend to carry and the certification it has to hold.
